Beautiful Marker

Choosing a marker can be a very personal and difficult decision. We had considered traditional and modern but opted to customize Jesse’s marker in a way that most exhibited his character…

We chose a deep black stone for the bold, strong young man Jesse was. The front and back are smooth & shiny and the edges are rough & rugged…which are all adjectives we would use to describe him. 🙂 The etched scene of woods, three deer and water fully encompass his love for the Hourigan family farm, hunting and the great outdoors. We opted to make Jesse’s last name prominent for his pride of being a Hourigan, especially to be a part of the Hourigan men. And lastly, per Jesse’s request, he wanted the words “Never Gave Up” on his marker. He stood behind the motto of our family and promised specific people that he would do just that…Never Give Up.

The placement of the marker really tugged at our hearts….it makes it real, it’s done and oh, so many tears.

Psalm 63:8
“My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.”

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

How beautiful! The thought that went into it, describes Jesse. I didn’t know him real personably, but everything I have read and what people have done in his honor and memory, makes him a very special person. I am so honored to have been part of Jesses Journey. Thank you

Trinity Sunday, Peace with Justice Sunday
Everlasting God, you have revealed yourself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and ever live amd reign in the perfect unity of love. Grant that we may always hold firmly and joyfully to this faith, and living in praise of your devine majesty, and finally be one in you, who are three persons in one God, for ever and ever. We also celebrate Memorial Day, a day of remembrance of ALL our falling heroes, especially Jesse. This memorial monument to Jesse is a tribute to him and God’s creation. I am sure that he, Jesse, and the Lord approve this eternal prayer as well as a permanent sign of Scott’s, Ingrid’s, Savannah’s, and all our love. Lord our God and Savior, who sent the disciples and apostels to the very ends of the earth to teach and proclaim your message, to reveal the mysteries of our faith grant that this monument of Jesse be the instrument through which we praise and give thanks of your great works.
Again, we put Jesse’s and your names on top of our prayer list. We love you all, and bless you.
    In Christ,hermann
