Elementary School Great Escape Donation

Four 5th grade boys ~Micah, Jacob, Brady, and Amari~ from:
Tomek Eastern Elementary
presented 456 donated DVD movies to us for our Great Escape project yesterday. We are so amazed & thankful…Outstanding job!

The young men were required to do a research project and they chose leukemia. Not only did they create a PowerPoint presentation but they also had a DVD drive…They encouraged their classmates to participate and a pizza party was offered to the class with the most donations. The winner was Ms. Markey’s class with a total donation of 152.

The Hurley Medical Center, Child Life Department will be blessed with this wonderful gift. I spoke with a Child Life member today. She said the donation is at the most perfect time! They were in need of more movies and the kids will be so excited…yay!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting The Great Escape and providing sick children with so many opportunities to escape for 90 minutes by watching a movie!

I shared with the boys a little of Jesse’s story and how the Great Escape project started because of how much he loved movies. Before I left, I gave each of them a Jesse’s Journey wristband. They loved the camo color and as I was explaining that Jesse loved the military and hunting, they got even more excited. Those boys were a pure joy!

That’s the most awesome thing I’ve read anywhere in a while. Kudos to those young men for working on something that is bigger then themselves. In a day when society is all me, me, me, it warms my heart to see the next generation full of young ones that “get it”.

Great job young fellas (and ladies)!

    HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!!!!
O Lord, this day we gather with eager hearts, hungry for your Word, yearning for the joy you promis in love. On this day of celebrating your love, we lift to you those who have given us life, those who have loved us, those who blessed us, and those who have taught us – OUR MOTHERS. May your blessing pour out upon the women who gave us birth, and those beautoful, strong women of faith who have been mothers to us and JESSE along our JOURNEY.
We sing in our Hymnal “PASS IT ON. It only takes a little spark to get a fire going, and those around warm up in its glowing.” That what you do with hugs and kisses – you want to PASS IT ON.
I see in those pictures the joy you spread among those young boys, and Jesus and JESSE are smiling too.
Our congregation is praying and praying for you, your family, and your and Jesse’s friends. We will not forget you and always love you.
    HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
    from Jesus and JESSE
    In Christ, hermann
