Jesse has gone home…

Jesse & Mom

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your grace and mercy. Thank you for all blessings big and small.  Thank you, Father, for personally blessing my life with the gift of our son Jesse Scott Hourigan.  This gift has changed my life forever.  As a family, we have experienced so many wonderful adventures, having many homes & making so many friends around the nation. I’m also thankful for the hard times because during those times we grew as individuals, bonded as a family and most importantly trusted in You.  Lord, I cried out to You on the day of Jesse’s diagnosis, repeatedly saying, “Not now Lord, please don’t take him now, I’m not ready!”.  Thank You Lord for answering my prayer. Thank you for giving me – us – more time with Jesse.  From the day of diagnosis, December 7, 2011 thru the day You called him home, March 6, 2013, I trusted and will always trust in Your plan.  Lord, it sure was a rocky road with many highs and lows but I know I was covered in love and prayers because of the peace I’ve had during the most difficult times.

I am so thankful that Jesse asked Jesus into his heart at a young age and professed his faith with Baptism in Colorado.  Lord, I thank You for the opportunity to share my faith and testimony with Jesse especially when he expressed concern about his salvation because of ‘fun’ things he liked to do.  I shared with Jesse that You loved him no matter what and that it did not take the 15 times of asking Jesus into his heart for it ‘to stick’.  Lord, thank You for blessing us in the last 15 months with Jesse and having the privilege  to see his heart change and soften.

Thank You Lord for taking Jesse home…where there is no pain or sorrow.  Thank You for restoring his body to like new again, so he can run…oh, run so fast…no more wheelchairs, ramps, handicap parking, family restrooms, neck towels…Jesse is free!  I know Jesus met Jesse with open arms and a huge hug…waiting their turns were his Great Grandad & Grandmom, Abbo & Grandy, Great Grandpa Diffin, Great Grandpa LaFreniere, Great Grandpa Thomas, Great Uncle Kenny and so, so, many more.  I am so thankful Jesse promised me that he too would be first in line to great me when I go home.

Lord, I know You sacrificed Your son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation.  I, too, know how it feels and I give You thanks for the peace You are pouring over me and my family.

In Jesus Name, I pray all of these things, Amen.

This picture is our precious boy sleeping before we went to the hospital…I loved to watch him sleep.

Our loss here on earth…..that smile, huge heart, great sense of humor……now an angel in heaven. Our times with him will be cherished for the rest of our earthly lives. Jeff, Leilani, Siam and Levi

“Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshipers meeting together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be were they to become ‘unity’ conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship. Social religion is perfected when private religion is purified.” A.W. Tozer

heaven during this difficult time. Jesse and your family have been in my prayers and you will continue to be lifted up to the Lord of lord’s and the King of king’s, Jesus Christ.
Your deep faith and inspiring words are a testimony to all who know you and have come to know you during Jesse’s journey to eternity.
Miracles come in different packages, but the greatest of all miracles is embracing Jesus as Lord and Savior. May Jesse’s soul rest in the peace of Christ.

I never had the pleasure of meeting your family personally but I have been following Jesse’s fight for the past several months. I followed as he made the tough decisions to stop treatment and live his life and loved the adventures you took and even more that you shared this with so many of us who never got the pleasure to meet you. I lost my mother to leukemia 2 years ago so i felt like i had a connection to your family but prayed that Jesse would be a miracle. God bless you and your family during this difficult time but know that there are many, many people holding you this evening in their thoughts.

I wish you a sense of peace and leave you with the knowledge that you changed so many lives for the better by demonstrating, every day, the strength that comes from family. Rest in Peace young Jesse.

I can only imagine how wonderful the memories are and will be in the weeks & months to come. Know that we have heavy hearts for your grief yet celebrate Jesse’s homecoming and heavenly body.

Dear Scott, Ingrid, Savannah, and Family,
    Please accept my heartfelt condolenses.
    Let us pray:
God of all of us, your love never ends. When all else fails, you still are God. We pray to you for one another in our need, and for all, anywhere, who mourn with us this day. To those who doubt, give light; to those who are weak, strength; to all who have sinned, mercy; to all who sorrow, your peace. Keep true in us the love with which we hold one another. In all your ways we trust you. And to you, with your Church on earth and in heaven, we offer honor and glory, now and forever. Receive Jesse into the arms of your mercy. Raise Jesse up with all your people. Receive us also, and raise us into a new life. Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Jesse. Receive Jesse into the blessed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints of light.
Jesse, the Lord loves you, Jesus loves you, your family and your friends love you. Goodbye my friend, I love you. See you on the OTHER SIDE.
    In Christ, hermann

My heart & prayers are with you all…what a precious boy, a special gift that you had the opportunity to love, care for for those years…a lifetime of memories…and yet, not long enough…Jesse graced your lives with his presence, his smiles, all that personality wrapped up in a package you called “son.” He was loved and I know that, in him, you were well-pleased. His life counted for much and transformed your lives in a powerful way….you’ll never be the same…Ingrid, Scott, Savannah…you are kinder, more loving and gracious people because of the journey you have taken….and you’ll never forget how Jesse’s life impacted not only your personal world, but the world spinning around you. I see Jesse dancing in heaven tonight…free at last and full of joy. In time, may the Lord turn your sorrows into dancing as well. Much love. ❤ ❤ ❤

    “High Flight”

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
    And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air….

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace.
Where never lark, or even eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
    – Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

I can see Jesse’s spirit doing all that and more in the deliriously joyful presence of our loving Jesus.

And I sing… my hope is in You alone

My heart goes out to you for your loss of your son Jesse. But, we have faith that we are His first and always. We are just keepers of our children and loved ones for such a short period of time. My prayers are with your and all who will be traveling to Michigan for the ‘Celebration’ of Jesse’s life. Blessings to the entire family.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
