A Day of Victory!

Today we celebrated for several reasons…

Jesse’s bone marrow test came back & he is still in REMISSION!  The leukemic cells are still gone & the Philadelphia chromosome results should be back next week.

After 3 times, Jesse’s throat finally healed enough to pass the swallow study.  So at this time he can have all the liquids & soft foods he desires.  It’s not the Red Robin Bonzai Burger he has been dreaming about, but it is food.  Once he is able to consume the recommended daily calories the feeding tube will be removed.

Jesse’s chest IV port was surgically removed yesterday and he is recovering well.  Oh, all IV’s have been removed too!  He is almost a free bird :-).  A new Neurostar 3-pronged IV port will be implanted into his jugular vein prior to his bone marrow transplant.

Finally, we have been told Jesse could come home at the end of the month, if he continues to work hard and get stronger.  Our goal is to get him walking again & gaining  his independence.  Once he is in peak condition, his Bone Marrow Transplant doctors will initiate the steps for the bone marrow transplant, which will mean more chemo.

Thank you Lord for the many blessings this week. I continue to praise you in this storm.

We are friends of the Strygulecs who have been faithfully praying and following Jesse’s story. Our son, Alex, is a survivor of JMML and a bone marrow transplant. Jesse has become dear to our family through his story and the way we see God working in Him and the faith you have. We are so blessed to serve the Great Physician. Tonight, when I stopped by to read the update, I saw your words “praise You in this storm” and I couldn’t help but write. It was that very song by Casting Crowns, that was released close to the time of his dx, that became our family’s “theme song” through the most difficult valley we’ve ever walked. Even to this day, almost 6 years later, when I hear the song, it reminds me of the incredible promises of our Savior and the peace He gives – peace that only comes from Him – in the STORM. So thankful you are “choosing” praise – and that God is being glorified. I wait with great anticipation to see how God writes the rest of Jesse’s story, to see the plans He has for you all – to prosper you and give you ABUNDANT LIFE. We will continue to diligently pray for Jesse, for the doctors involved in his care, your family and the upcoming days leading to BMT. We’ve been there, and we know the trials, and we have lived the Victory. We look forward to hearing that Jesse is soon cancer free, and playing baseball again!
