Jesse on his way to PT

Jesse worked hard this week during all of his therapies.  There have been noticeable improvements in many areas, especially in his strength.  He can almost sit up in bed by himself…this is huge!  He doesn’t think he’ll ever walk again, but we have other plans for him :-).

One drawback this week was that Jesse did not pass his swallow study for the second time.  What does this mean?   It means, that until Jesse’s swallow reflexes improve and he passes the study, he will continue to be tube fed.  This study consists of swallowing different items while being X-ray video taped.  Jesse will have another study, maybe next Friday.  He has started craving food again which is a wonderful sign…everything sounds good and is his favorite!  What will he eat first…hmmm?  Any guesses?

Another issue is that Jeese’s IV chest port is infected, again. So they have put him on another round of antibiotics.  He’s not thrilled about being hooked back up to that IV pole.

Jesse’s speech is improving…well, to me anyway.  His speech therapist explained how she was going to help him and he told her, “My mom can understand me just fine!”.

We can feel the coverage & warmth of all of your prayers….thank you!  I pray that God will be glorified in a mighty way & that Jesse will one day see how much he has been blessed during this terribly trying time.
